BJEMS win BBSR Inter-School Cricket Tourney

Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School (BJEMS) emerged champions in the 16th Bhubaneswar Inter-School Cricket Tournament when they crushed Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) by 70 runs in the final at BJB College ground here today. BJEMS allrounder Soumya Routray won the Player of the Match prize, scoring 32 runs and taking three wickets.

Ramesh Menka of KISS bagged the prize as player of the tournament, while his teammates Navidatya Mallick and Suleman Silpadia pocketed the best wicket-keeper and best fielder awards respectively. The prizes for best batsman, best bowler and best promising player went to Anurag Biswal (Loyola EM School), Aniket Tripathy (BJEM School) and Siba Sankar Jena (BBC for Deaf).

Former Odisha Ranji team captain Biplab Samantaray handed over the trophy in the presentation ceremony. BJB College Principal Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, host Veterans’ Cricket Association of Odisha (VCAO)  president Ashokananda Jena, vice-presidents Bikram Mohanty, Naba Ranjan Patnaik, Balabhadra Pattnaik and secretary Biren Kumar Das were present on the occasion.
